Contact Info

It's important to make it easy for recruiters to contact you and schedule an interview. To do this, your contact information should be prominent and easy to find at the top of your resume.

Essential Information

At a minimum, you should always include the following information on your resume:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number

Additional Information

In some cases, it may be helpful to include additional information on your resume to give recruiters a better sense of your professional background. For example, if you are a graphic designer, you might want to include links to your portfolio or design-focused social media profiles such as Dribble or Behance. If you are a software engineer, you might want to include links to your GitHub profile to showcase your code.

Avoid Personal Information

Avoid including personal information on your resume unless there is a specific reason to do so. This includes:

  • Birthday
  • Address
  • Gender
  • Religion
  • Political affiliation

Including this information can introduce bias and may not be relevant to your job application. Your resume is a professional document, and it's best to keep it focused on your skills and experiences.

Use a Professional Email Address

When selecting an email address to include on your resume, ensure that it is professional and appropriate. Avoid using disposable email addresses, as they can give the impression that you are untrustworthy to potential employers. A good idea is to use a variation of your name or a combination of your name and a keyword related to your field. For instance, a software engineer could use "johnsmith.software@gmail.com" or "jsmith.coding@gmail.com", rather than "n3wbki113r@hotmail.com".
